Frequently
Asked Questions - Tours versus Independent travel
|
| |
|
What is the advantage of traveling
independently? |
| It
is adventurous. It is challenging. It is unique. You see more
than you planned on. You meet more people. You and or your friend
will integrate easier into backpacker hostels rather than being
lost in a large group. |
More
intimate things are offered to the independent traveler like
integrating with locals, you'll absorb more culture you'll find
more out of the way places full of charm and adventure.
These make up the most memorable moments of your trip. |

| Shall
I take a tour ? |
| Tours
can be cost efficient if you want to see a lot of places in
a short space of time. They can give you a good overall view
of several countries that make choices for your next trip to
Europe easier. It takes the guess work out of traveling, (minimalizes
) risks that you have to take and your trip can become a close
knit family environment with the others on board. You may not
necessarily stay in backpacker hostels so campgrounds and group
accommodation facilities give a different aspect to your trip.

| Is
backpacking safe for single travelers? |
For
the most part yes ! With comprehensive travel networks like
BackpackingEurope.com for example, where single travelers can
literally go from one recommended hostel to another via a relatively
safe and easy to use rail system within Europe, the answer to
this question remains unchanged. We do however recommend that
you as a traveler allow your common sense and intuition to prevail
at all times.
Be sensible about arriving at a hostel by a decent hour, as
some hostel receptions are not open 24hrs a day. This is for
your own safety. |
